A bit of progress on the ‘55. We applied a coat of chassis paint to the frame in the engine bay. We’ll do more of the frame as we go but mainly wanted to get this area ready for new suspension, brake lines, and engine.

The project is still ongoing. The interior is out of it for the time being and the dash is all gutted. I’ve discovered (no surprise to many I’m sure) that with these old cars the timeline and the parts list tends to go in directions not originally planned. Some of the things we didn’t originally plan to focus on are now getting done as it’s easier to do now than later. For example, it’s easier to put a headliner in when there’s no interior in the car. But, the rear part of the headliner tucks under the rear windshield seal and there’s no way that 70 year old seal is going to flex enough for that. So it will need to be replaced before the headliner goes in. Pretty much how it’s going at the moment. Here’s some photos of work along the way.

Any complex project like this one, you'll normally find that for each thing you need to do. There are 10 other things that have to be done first. Plus they're another manifestation of Cheops Law. "Nothing is ever done on time or within budget."
