There's a bunch of talk in this thread about a man going to the white house with a mere plurality of the popular vote. One president in our lifetime went to the white house with a minority of the popular vote. Who was He?

It's not even a representative republic anymore, either. Who here feels represented?
I do. Lankford, Inhofe, and Coburn are doing what I voted for them to do. All three of them know they work for the citizens that elected them. All three of them work for the benefit of Oklahoma, as well as the US. All three of them work toward a smaller, more fiscally responsible government.

Do you understand what would happen in Cuba if you picked up the phone and call the government to make a suggestion? How about in Iran? Look at what's going on in Egypt. Most of the Russion states still take a very dim view of the average comrade making a suggestion. Yet here you have incredible access to your government and you sit on the sidelines and whine because your representatives aren't mind readers. You guys remind me of beggars who turned up their nose at a feast because they didn't like the way the steak was cooked. Jeez.

I approach the entire voting thing from a philisophical point. Government is an institution that holds the monopoly on force that takes the property of the people with the threat of violence/imprisonment. Theft, whether done by government or an individual, is immoral. Thus, voting for the continuation of government that engages in theft makes the voter as guilty as the politician doing the stealing with the threat of government behind them.

I've opted to unplug from the entire process and not participate in a system that uses fear and threat of violence against people. I refuse to be a part of the immorality of theft. Many here claim to be Christian (I'm a Deist). That any Christian willingly will participate in a system that perpetuates theft simply has never made sense. Voting is nothing more than being an accessory to the immoral act of theft. Sugar coat it anyway you want. Claim that the government is the only entity that can provide roads and defense (history proves otherwise) and as such we should be involved in the process of voting. No matter how you slice it... if you vote, you give sanction to theft.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Let us know when you decide to quit pouting over in the corner. Like I side before, sitting on the sidelines instead getting in the game and making a difference.
