In a previous post, I had mentioned that I had noticed my local Arvest bank had put up a "No Guns" sign on the front door.
I usually use the drive thru, but when I saw it, I decided to make it a point to discuss this sign with the management.
First, I've know the Pres and VP personally for years.
The first time I was in to talk to them it was late and they had both left. The Pres' secretary asked if she could help me. I told her I wanted to talk to him about the sign on the front door. She looked a bit flustered and said "well, we've had that there forever.". "No you haven't. It is a relatively new addition. Just tell Mr. M that I would like to talk to him about it."
So the next time I went in, I saw Mr. M. We sat in his office and discussed the policy. He was not aware of alot of the criteria for a firearms license and was also under the impression that the sign was mandated by Arvest main policy.
Due to what I had read on some other posts, I was able to tell him that I did not think it was a policy that was set in stone.
He agreed to check on it.
I contacted the board member who had had success at another Arvest, and the gave me the contact info that had worked for him. And I used it.
Longer story short, I went into the branch today (44th and Cache) and the sign was down.
Went over to say "thanks" and had a good conversation with the VP. Gonna have to stop by or call on Monday and talk with Mr. M and thank him personally.
So......if any of you do business at that branch, make sure you make a positive comment to the Branch Manager.
