Thankfully most of us are our own people and expect to be judged by what we do . . . unfortunately most of the easily manipulated apply stereotypes across the board.
The problem isn't "most of us" in this case. Most people in the OK2A world disavow the action of the so called "2A Auditor" but non-gun people see that and will literally generalize all of us as idiots. Same principle applies here. Most of us expect to be judged on our own merits but the people that would take away guns and civil liberties don't see us that way. So when we see crazies like Bimboert and Laser Girl we should be the first to clean house.
I have a hard time imagining that most people here would support them helping an insurrection, or making anti-Semitic claims. But absent of calls from across the GOP for their resignation, that's what people on the left will see.... that the armed crazies are going unchecked by "their own party". Listen, even if they were to resign right now, they'd get replaced like by 1 Dem (CO) and 1 Rep (GA). But in the house that's not going to shake up any votes. What will shake things up is that everyone on the left is going to see the GOP progressing further down the crazy train and be MORE emboldened in 2022 and 2024.
Really worst case scenario for the GOP would be that the moderates in the party who don't believe in the conspiracies and don't want their politics to be associated with that kind of national trainwreck of a political figure, are going to abandon the party and either switch sides or just stay home in upcoming elections.
Why is it the “unhinged” of the left are, for the most part, not denounced/castigated and are sometimes even defended for what the say?
