This from the NRA:

Yesterday, House Bill 3510, legislation introduced by House Speaker Jeffrey Hickman (R-58) and Senator Brian Bingman (R-12) to address Governor Mary Fallins (R) veto of House Bill 2539, passed in the Oklahoma House of Representatives by an 83 to 8 vote. Pro-gun House Bill 2614, legislation that authorizes concealed handgun license holders to store their handgun in a locked vehicle in school parking lots, also passed yesterday in the state House by an 83 to 6 vote.

HB 3510 makes a necessary amendment to Oklahoma Statute Title 21 § 733, which at this time permits the use of deadly force to defend only ones self, his or her husband, wife, parent, child, master, mistress, or servant. HB 3510 provides an important update to this antiquated statute by expanding the category of people a person can lawfully use deadly force to defend, expanding defense to any other person.

HB 3510 and HB 2614 have now been sent to the state Senate where they await consideration. Please contact your state Senator and urge him or her to support these important self-defense bills. Urge your state Senator to vote YES on HB 3510 and HB 2614.

Ummm....

I just read through the entire text of HB2614 from Legiscan and it says nothing about leaving a weapon in a locked car on school grounds. It only has to do with weapons carry by former DAs and ADAs and US Attorneys, then some sections on firearms use by minors.

Did something get switched around?

The school parking lot bill is HB2329, which passed the house 03/11 and has been sent to Senate for reading, 2nd reading referred to Public Safety Committee, which sounds like it may be dead, to me? Been 2 months?

What a crock.

It is very strange, the bill text is about DAs, ADA, and US Attorneys but the title for the bill give on Legiscan is "Crimes and punishments; firearms stored in motor vehicle on school property; deleting certain penalties; effective date" HB2614.

It appears Legiscan has the incorrect description for 2614. I don't oppose HB2614 necessarily, but it does not expand everyday citizens' rights in any way.

I'm hoping that the NRA has it right about HB 2329. It is flat out ridiculous that permit holders cannot leave a firearm in a locked car in a school parking lot.
Can anyone confirm what HB 2329 says?

HB 2614 will allow handguns to be locked in a motor vehicle, the vehicle may be attended or unattended, and the handgun must be out of view. It appears that there have been some changes made but it passed the house last week and is waiting on the senate

I have followed 2329 all spring. I have emailed my senator inquiring about this bill's status but my emails have gone unanswered.

2614 is a mystery. ...if you go to the
Ok legislature website and pull up the bill....go to the "bill summary" tab. Scroll down...select "conference committee reports summary" dated 5/13. It talks about allowing sda holders to store handguns in school parking lots. Maybe a way of slipping it in backdoor?
