I thought it was a given: if you add a loader fill the tires or buy wheel weights. Any dealer worth a crap should see that through. Lives depend on it. Literally.

None I know of will suggest that as weighted tire torques will exceed the engineered axle splines strength without tire weights.
I think we all know that they are over engineered and will probably handle the weights, but they won’t recommend it.

Hey, so, thought I ask here since there are a lot of experienced tractor guys on OSA. New to the tractor scene since we moved to our property. Have a kubota L2501 25hp with HST. Noticed the Trans flund was really low so added 2 gallons to it. Still seemed low so when i was at the Kubota dealer i asked the service guy how much I should put in and he basically said, while looking through the fill hole to fill it up to where you can start seeing it. Literally a very vague answer. These tractors don't have dip sticks. Got another gallon of fluid and stopped filling about 2" from the top. Buttoned it back up and done. Well, go out to the shop today after work and there is probably a quart of oil on the floor under the tractor. Looked all around and find that the rubber vent for the trans case is wheeping/dripping oil through the breather tube that looks like a rubber question mark shape. Closer look seems the oil was probably filled an inch or two higher than the breather. Obviously over filled the case with fluid. How bad is this? Seems there my be a sight glass on these but havent found it yet and from what I've read, it is next to useless. Anyone have a clue what the correct level may be for the trans fluid? What damage could be done by operating with an overfilled trans? Thanks

the vent is puking oil probably from expansion. i doubt that you have hurt anything yet but you probably should drain and new filter then add back the correct measured amount as indicated by the book. then you can look for a level and see the correction. Kubota has free download manuals on the web..... kubota hydrostat transmissions are finiky about their oil,use the super UDT2 oil only and change it once per year or by hours what ever comes first.

I have been wanting to do a new pond. Looked into renting an excavator. Was more reasonable than I expected, but the price of diesel and my C-19 has halted that.

Could REALLY use a dozer to clear mesquite out, but lack of funds has that way down priority list.

We use an old Ford 9N for brush hog, moving bales, basic tractor work. A 4044 JD or similar would be great.

I agree, the longer wheelbase are much better. Not a fan of these new, short tractors.

Maybe I will hit lottery and get the projects done.

This dude makes the most awesome pond building videos I have watched. This is part of a build he’s on now.

He just finished a 5 acre pond that started by clearing a forest. I don’t know how long it took him, but I would say weeks if not months. I think he’s in North Carolina so it’s a different environment and geology. They have a lot of red clay which is perfect for building ponds.

He runs an excavator like a boss!

I find it hard to catch the liquid level in the small sight glass, once you pass it, you tend to over fill it. On an old backhoe I had, I finally started unscrewing , the sight glass, and taking it out, when filling, so it would run out when it got full, then putting the sight glass back in. A little massy but I don't overfill this anymore!
