It’s a mixed bag at my place. The ones will tall brows usually have short tines, and the ones with tall tines usually have short brows. Rarely do you get a buck with both.
Another interesting thing about the deer around my place is that there are two “types” of deer. One we call sand hill deer that evidently move over from the sand hills north of me, and they have really white horns and a lighter tan and wooly coat. The “river” deer generally have darker horns and a darker smooth coat.
In 20 years of hunting up there, I’ve never seen a sand hill buck over about 150” and never seen one with decent brows or mass.

I think this guy was posing for a doe or something. My daughter calls him “the attention grabber” because he always shows up or does something to cause you to do a double take. This pic is just another example.

This buck is still running around. I think I’ll pass on him in hopes of him making it to next year. My neighbor told me he saw a bigger buck on his place so I might see if I can go find him.

By the time I can hunt, I’m kinda worn out. But it’s worth it for them to be successful. Truth be known, I do all this work more for them than myself.I wondered if the girls were ever going to let you hunt.
I respect Dad’s that set their kids up for hunting success, and there’s obviously a bunch of them on here.
Been slow for us this week too in central Oklahoma. Our group has only seen young bucks and a seldom doe. Feeders haven’t been hit very hard lately.
