Not talking airlines here, just running up and down the highways and gravel roads going to your destination. Certainly, advantages to each, weight, space, protection... to name a few off the top of my head.
You need to protect the scope from cosmetic dinks if you do not like scratches etc on them.
As far as being jolted around and screwing up Zero I have only had an issue with that with turrets that do not have covers or that do not lock in place.
My scoped rifles have bounced off the back of the 4 wheeler in motion and fell 10 feet to the frozen ground from a tree and never lost zero.
My friend got me a padded scope cover years ago.

I really liked it and decided I could build my own and so I did and I have built 6 of them in black and not as elaborate.
I wanna see your covers.![]()
If you're selling those, I want one with Swampratt stitched into itI do not have ends on my covers which works out if you carry out to the woods with the cover on.
You can leave the cover on and see through the scope and shoot.
The material I used has a vinyl coating in the inside so it is waterproof.
Not that I care about that I just wanted the stiff cordura type material.
You can sit on that cover on a rock or the ground to keep your hind end a little warmer and dry if you had to.
It has 1/4" thick packing foam inside of it.
I tried 1/2" but my sewing machine did not care for that height at all.
Hard enough sewing through 2 layers of codura with 1/4" foam and the thick strap.
You can leave these covers on in the gun safe also to keep "dinks" from happening to the scope.
