Still, more than $685K for the Tulsa Schools superintendent? That can't be right - I had no idea they made that much money! Even this year's salary of $256K is no small potatoes...

Yeah, I'll grant it that some of them are well overpaid, but some people stop at that and point to it as THE problem, so I just wanted to remind people of how small it is.

It's kind of like the Stranger Danger program... focusing on the (on average) 115 children who are abducted by strangers compared to the 800,000 overall cases. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8331335/

What a ridiculous proposition, Kansas raises their funding therefore we must also. Not because there is a need, just because another state did. Are these people so screwed up that they don't see how stupid the whole thing is?

744 - Supported by the teacher's union.

Need anymore be said?

I hear where you're coming from VM and the logical side of me says you're right but the daddy in me (4X) says FOAD. Imagine if it were one of your kids that got abducted and that it could have been prevented with a Stranger Danger program.

As much as I preached against drugs to my children when they were growing up it never had the impact that the DARE program they were exposed to in elementary school had. To the best of my knowledge none of my 3 adult daughters ever did any drugs. I attribute a lot of that to DARE.

Some school programs actually do work. And the benefit cannot always be quantified with dollars.

The new Supt of Ed said she is not in favor of consolidation of districts. (last night)

That's part of the problem... we probably already collect enough money... but when you pay admin costs for a 100 kid district...something has to give.

Good managment makes money go further. The buzzword is "value added" - let's get some!
