Marijuana causes the parents to eat Cheetos and enjoy Spongebob more than the children do.
Thank God I don't have any kids yet that I know of.
So does 5 beers count as some kind of gross mistreatment, rather than just irresponsible behavior? My problem with your original comment was that I got the impression you were saying the kids were abused in some fashion, which I think is a little extreme.
Yeah, agreed. I'm really trying to focus on whether the kids should have been removed from the home or not.
This was my experience.
It also bears mention that children pick up on behavioral cues from their parents at surprisingly young ages, and these guys should have been more mindful of the example they were setting. That doesn't mean the children were being abused though.

Keep in mind, I am pro-legalization. However, I disagree about the definition of abuse. If the kid could access it, he could have very well smoked it. That is negligence. Negligence is child abuse. And for clarification, had the substance been alcohol or prescription drugs, I would make the same call. I know its a little disjointed (no pun intended) since this case deals with a child who took the substance and reported it, but to me, as a parent, it still bears weight.
For the record, I have a child and I have been known, on occasion, to drink 1 or 10 on some nights. The difference is, my wife and I would never put ourselves in a position where both of us are intoxicated leaving noone to look after the general welfare of our daughter (sort of easy for me since my wife really doesnt drink).
On that same token, I know parents who do smoke who ensure the same security for their children that I do with mine. So, I wouldnt say the negligence is due to the consumption of marijuana, but rather a certain character flaw concerning responsibility with the individual.
You've obviously never experienced with marijuana, and that's ok, but this just isn't a possible scenario. Stupidity causes parents to offer drugs to a child, or a sip of Busch Light, or a drag off a Marlboro. Marijuana causes the parents to eat Cheetos and enjoy Spongebob more than the children do.

You have never experienced the full taste of Cheetos unless you have tasted them while under the influence ... at least that's what I have heard ...
