I use E6000 for things I never want to mess with again.
Some silicone will rust metal so know that .
GE silicone 2 is supposed to be fine with metal.

I just go for the E6000 I use it on many things around the house.
Stinks for a couple weeks compared to silicone and you must allow about 72 hours for full cure but 48 hours in 70 temps works fine.

I have used it to repair a 1" slice in the sidewall of a 235-75-15 Goodyear wrangler tire.
I did 3 layers inside and out and allowed each to dry 48 hours and then stuck it on my trailer and wore the tread off of it.

Great stuff to have around.
It will bond to the steel and the rubber very well.

First time I’ve heard of this method but I would try this first.

If that doesn’t work I would cut into the wall and put a 2x1 1/2” San t with ferncos and just replace the whole thing.

This plumbing talk is reminding me that I need to replace both exterior faucets . . . house was built in 2005 so I'm hoping the faucets are threaded on and I can just swap them out with new ones. Not looking forward to trying to remove them.

I don't have 3 days to wait for it to set up. I was about to run the dishwasher and the sink is full from last night.

Get yourself a new rubber coupling maybe the one you have in service got hard.
I have had those Home store couplings that did not seal well just because the PVC rubber was too hard and did not conform to the corroded pipe well.

I went back to my "shadetree" and got a radiator hose which was much more flexible and fixed the leak on many plumbing projects.
