I found an old Oklahoma hunting licenses in the butt of an old Remington auto 20 gauge. Researched the date and discovered it was the first year they were issued. My greatest find was an old Remington pump 35 caliber. An old box came with the gun and in the box I found the book with the string still attached that had once held it on the trigger guard. The price was still easily read (34.95). I also found a letter from W.R.Weaver that was explaining to the guy how to properly attach a Weaver telescopic sight to his new rifle. Best I remember the letter was post marked 1934. I'll have to get it out of the safe and take a look. Anyway, to me it was pretty cool.
A friend in the military gave me an old M16 mag with blood stains on it. *Supposedly* during one of his tours in Iraq, they engaged a small group of hostile Iraqi's using M16's that the US provided way back in the day. Needless to say, the Iraqi's were on the losing side, and he grabbed several of the GI mags left at the scene. It's admittedly a bit morbid, but it doesn't bother me too much that the blood of an Iraqi got on American made equipment as a result of it being used against American forces.
