I wanted a cell phone for two reasons.

To talk on (it is a phone, after all), and faster internet access for my desktop PC (dialup was getting pitifully slow on sites designed for faster speeds).

A bonus is that it's $40-50 per month cheaper. Our AT&T land line had gotten ridiculously expensive ($80-90 per month, including minimal long distance), plus about $16 per month for two dialup services (because either one was sometimes down).

My only complaint is tower access, which worked great for a couple of weeks. Now I have intermittent lag times that I'm guessin' is due to an influx of cheap phones for kids' Christmas presents. And that's with a cell phone booster (I'm still fiddling with its best direction). :/

It's always sumthin'...

iTunes effed me years ago, so I went Android and never looked back.

iTunes is the worst app Apple ever made. Nowadays it’s not needed for anything. Apple Music and the cloud make it so much better.

I understand that Snowden refused to have a phone of any kind. If he were commenting, I imagine he might repurpose Jefferson's quote: "May your chains rest lightly upon you"
Disclosure: I use an old iPhone.
I understand a linux phone is coming and anyone who wants to resist big brother should look into it

Starlink is up and running. 100meg anywhere in the country. Have to buy your own modem though, and it's a sticker shock.

"According to an email shared Tuesday by CNBC, Starlink will initially cost $99 per month. Users will also have to pay $499 for a Starlink Kit that enables the connection, featuring a ground terminal, a tripod, and a wifi router."

Yikes! And I'd still need a phone...?

Lol, no thanks. :drunk2:

Like I said, sticker shock... But when I finally finish my cabin, I'm in. It'll be the only way to have fast web.
