With the exception of combat veterans- (Completely different scenario, thank you for your service), I'm curious how many people in this thread have actually pointed their gun at close range at another person. With their finger on the trigger. With 4 pounds of pressure on a 5 pound trigger.
Finger on the trigger, no, but I had a guy attempt to carjack me when I was in college. I put my pistol on the end of his nose as he climbed in my Jeep CJ5, and his exact words were “oops, wrong car!” as he hurriedly got back out.

Son, you have no idea what I do or do not know. You should probably stop before you dig yourself in any deeper. Besides, I’ve clearly implied that I’m done with you. Feel free to annoy someone else from this point forward.

Don’t call me son pal, if you’ve been around the legal system any at all and no you don’t have to be a lawyer to know this. Murder charges almost always get high bail amounts set and in more than a few of those cases there’s no bail at all. The reason being you’re considered a flight risk.

Now we’re done and we won’t have to chat again.

"Wrong car"... yeah I'm pretty sure that's an understatement.

I have. Once at work. Once at a red light over by the Jesus House. Finger on the trigger both times. I am ashamed to say that the during the incident at the red light my gun was empty. Yep, that's right -- no bullets in it because when I got off work that night I blew some ammo downrange, practicing for the match that was coming up that weekend. 🤷 After it was all over and both fellas decided to move on quietly, I went someplace private and puked my guts up.

I got some warning points here because of an argument on a thread where people were saying that it was perfectly fine to shoot someone who was trying to steal a Nazi flag on someone's property. It was amazing how many people on this very board seemed okay with the idea that shooting to kill over a flag was a justifiable thing.
Agreed. Not too long ago people on here were ok with shooting illegals walking down the street. This thread is a 3rd example of endorsing murder. It appearance lots of people here are ok with this type of dialogue & some will even call you a liberal for pushing back on murder or racism.
This only confirms conservative stereotypes that the outside leftists who are reading this will take note of.

I’m embarrassed to say the pistol was just a Ruger Single Six loaded with 22 magnums, but at the time, it was all I had. I still have the gun.

Was there any difference in effectiveness of what you would have experienced with a full size 1911?

It served its purpose. The best hand gun for the task at hand is the one you can lay your hand on.

ETA - No reason to be embarrassed. Now if you'd lost your vehicle or maybe your life because your hand gun wasn't within reach, that might be reason for embarrassment.
