And, I would pound it in their head all day. Of course "Uncle Leroy" was in the class and he said "his dog was his family and if anyone tried to steal his dog, he would shoot them". I told him repeatedly, in front of 29 witnesses NOT to do that and it fell on deaf ears. I'm sure you had those people in your class too.

I am betting Uncle LeRoy was smart enough yo articulate he was in danger not the dog after the shooting.

Reference your previous comment also, there are people out there who really really want to shoot someone. They'll even make comments in this forum like, and I'm paraphrasing, 'they should change the law back so we can shoot a fleeing robber in the back' and similar. They're a news story waiting to happen.

They don't seem to want to get in a gunfight, but they just want to be able to shoot somebody. I think they may feel they missed out not getting their gun on or something and have a need to just see what it's like to pull a trigger on another human. Sad and pathetic

The two way rifle range is no fun at all. If I never go on it again I am 100% ok with it.

With the exception of combat veterans- (Completely different scenario, thank you for your service), I'm curious how many people in this thread have actually pointed their gun at close range at another person. With their finger on the trigger. With 4 pounds of pressure on a 5 pound trigger.

The comment above proves you know not much about the Bill Of Rights or the constitution.
Son, you have no idea what I do or do not know. You should probably stop before you dig yourself in any deeper. Besides, I’ve clearly implied that I’m done with you. Feel free to annoy someone else from this point forward.

So I assume, since you didn't mention them in your exceptions, that you are including active and retired LEO's.

Oh yeah ...

My personal favorite was the old man who "had forgotten more about guns than any GIRL will ever be able to figure out" 🙄🙄🙄 (and yes, that is a quote😂😂) managed to get a .357SIG bullet in a Glock magazine. BACKWARDS. Yes. You read that right -- he managed to finger **** that bullet into the mag with the primer facing OUT ... 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦

It took me a while -- and I "might" have nicked the edge of his mag with my pocketknife 😬 -- but I FINALLY got it out of there. And he didn't even thank me. 😑😉😂😂😂😂

There were 3 good old boys at the end of the range just standing there watching the show, kinda slackjawed, like OMG did that just REALLY happen?? Lol They waved me down to where they were and asked me if that kinda stuff happened very often. They were at the spot where I usually stood to keep an eye on the line so we chitty-chatted in between firing.

By the time we were all done and handing out certificates they ALL said "No wonder you guys drink!" 😂😂

Btw, the old man who didn't know how to load his magazine?? Yeah ... About him -- he swept the line with a loaded gun. Had a question and turned around in a circle looking for an instructor to ask. I don't even know how many times we would say "if you need to leave your station PUT YOUR GUN DOWN. If you need to do ANYTHING that you are not facing downrange PUT YOUR GUN DOWN. If you need to do ANYTHING other than stand at your station facing downrange PUT YOUR GUN DOWN."

I ran over, snatched his gun outta his hand, and yelled at him that if he did that again I was gonna kick him outta class. To be honest, he scared the **** outta me because ... Well ... He wasn't the most attentive guy out there. Anyway, he told me I couldn't do that. And looked at Dean (the other instructor) like he expected Dean to back him up. Dean looked him dead in the eye and said "Patti, what do you wanna do with this joker?" I nearly fell out. 😂😂😂 I told the old man that I could handle just about any "mistake" except for the ones that put other people on the range in danger and that, if he wanted to come take a couple of personal classes from me I would waive the fee, and we would let him return and finish the class another time but that for now he needed to pack up his **** and leave. And there would be no certificate for him today. OMG!! I thought the old guy was gonna shoot me for a second. 😬😬😬😬

He left. Never called about those lessons. My guess is he never got his license, either. Oh jeez ... I need a drink now. Lol
Yep. The worst person in the world to teach is the person who already knows everything. There are only a few of us that do. 😂

No ****. I was at a party I should not have been at (back when I was young and very, VERY stupid) when 2 guys got into a fight. One pulled a gun and fired off a shot. The bullet whizzed by my head so close I felt it move thru my hair. At the time, after I figured out I was still alive, I didn't think it was a big deal. (What can I say?? I already told you I was stupid. 🤦)

Many years later, when I met Grumpy, we went out to Harry's. I was doing fine until he gave me his 1911 45. I fired one shot, dropped the gun where I stood, and started shaking uncontrollably. I was very nearly bawling. It was so weird. Why the .45 and not the 9mm or the .22?? Only thing we can figure is that the night I nearly got shot that guy had a .45 and that my brain somehow heard the difference in the sound?? 🤷🤷🤷 Talk about strange ... 😳😳 I finally got over my unreasonable fear but I am STILL the one person at the range who watches EVERYBODY. And I do mean EVERYBODY. I really don't wanna get anywhere near that close to getting shot again. 😬😬
