its hit and miss on any semi auto and light loads. My 1100 has never choked yet their are tons of threads out there of them having issues...I wonder how much of it was user error of not shouldering the gun properly or poor maintenance: cleaning, o-ring inspection, etc... Same goes for my Benelli M1...the thing is a beast and eats everything without an issue. but a lot of the early guns (especially the tactical) came with a more stiff recoil spring and would not cycle low brass well at all.

I really think the Remington 1100 is the best budget do all semi auto...just make sure it has removable chokes.

This is from Guns.com
"In fact, the 1100 set a record in 1978 for the most shells shot out of a semi-auto shotgun without any cleaning whatsoever and without any failures of any kind. That number is a staggering 24,000+ rounds. Although several companies have tried, nobody can best that to this day."

Excellent guns.
