Slapout, Gotebo, Cleveland, St. Louis, Duke, Gould. I've been to all of em.
I apologize to the people of Gotebo and to Fudds everywhere for this.

Never been to that town but years ago three of four of us piled in one guy's car to go the big show in Tulsa.
It was November and there was a real cold snap at the time.
We were driving down a row in the parking lot looking for a spot and a group of old geezers in overalls and heavy coats were standing in a circle, in the middle of the row and they weren't moving for us or anybody.
They didn't appear to be doing any buying or selling at the time.
One of the guys in the car said something about what are those Fudds doing standing out in the cold blocking traffic?
Don't know what possessed me but I piped up and said, Hey we shouldn't interrupt the Fall meeting of the Greater Gotebo Luger Collector's Association.

Gotebo made it into the state’s Centennial Celebration. When Johnny Bench made his speech, he said that Abe Lemmons once told him “if I had listened to [Abe], I might be the head coach at Gotebo by now.”

Retrop is Porter spelled backwards.
Devol is Loved spelled backwards.
Porter is a town too, not sure about Loved.
Loveland

When they had a Post Office, 1000s of Valentine cards would be sent to Loveland to be post marked and mailed.

PO closed years ago.

I drive through Cookietown regularly.

Ninneka and Norge, of course, can't forget Pink.

When someone asks me where Walters is, I say, "we are the crossroads between Corum, Emerson, Geronimo and Cookietown. Home of Abe Lemmons"

This thread isn't meant to be mean or nasty. Just humorous and/or interesting.
The open carry thread with multiple (and mysterious to me) mentions of Creek county got me to wondering which Oklahoma county or town has the best stories.
Tell us your favorite story.
Osage County probably has the darkest history. Most of it has never been told.
