We stayed at the Toad Suck Inn in Harrison for a night before going on a Canoe trip on the Buffalo National River.Slapout Oklahoma. Not too far from Hooker.
In College I knew a classmate from Hooker, her last name was Fast. No kidding.
(Not Oklahoma but our neighbor to the East, Arkansas has a place named Toad Suck. Really. Even has a Toad Suck exit sign on I-40)
Arkansas doesn't count. It's near Conway. We stayed at the Toad Suck Inn in Harrison for a night before going on a Canoe trip on the Buffalo National River.
It’s just the name of a hotel we stayed at in Harrison. There is some tie to history with Toad Suck we learned while staying there.Arkansas doesn't count. It's near Conway.
I did work in that area for a hand full of years. I have more love for Arkansas than I do for Oklahoma for some reason. It’s just the name of a hotel we stayed at in Harrison. There is some tie to history with Toad Suck we learned while staying there.
Toad Suck" is an unincorporated community in Arkansas, located on the banks of the Arkansas River, and its name originates from a legend about a local tavern where riverboat captains and crews would reportedly drink heavily, "sucking on the bottle" until they swelled up like toads, leading locals to say "they suck on the bottle 'til they swell up like toads" - hence the name "Toad Suck" being attributed to the area;.
There is still a Toad Suck festival in Conway.
Pretty state. We have RV friends that just moved there after 7 years of roaming the country full time in their motor coach.I did work in that area for a hand full of years. I have more love for Arkansas than I do for Oklahoma for some reason.
