The "town hall" debate is rigged from the get go. They (the moderator and those putting on the debate) read all the perspective questions and cherry pick the ones closet to what they really want to ask or that can set up some favored spin. Then it appears some random person from the audience asks their question on the spur of the moment. The moderator knew in advance the question and there's a chance so did the participants in the debate. (or at least one of them)

Romney did well, Obama did well. Last night's debate will not be a deal maker/breaker for either of them.

That is a great viewpoint, and it's not meant to excuse Romney's performance. Romney did not do poorly or lose the debate. Romney was the same last night as he was during the first debate. He was articulate, forceful, and armed with facts.

The article is intended to highlight that the only way Obama is going to do well is with a teleprompter or a biased moderator steering the debate in his direction...period.

Nobody with any sense could watch that debate and honestly claim for a second that Crowley is not in the bag for Obama.

+1 Yup.

Our system sucks. We should have longer debates with more than just two people to vote for. The only moderator being small fixed amounts of time with which to answer crowds and talk. Just people from the crowd/people online and many more candidates. They should each get equal time and when time is up, microphone's turn off. Broadcast it live on TV and stream it live online.

As the article points out, Crowley was not only in the tank for Obama, she drank all the water and claimed that he walked on water too.

Crowley Interrupts Romney 28 Times, Obama Just 9

"......6. Just as egregiously, when the question was about assault weapons and Romney naturally started to discuss fast and furious, Crowley quickly shifted him away from that and turned it into an attack on Romney’s assault ban position ".....
