had pistol repaired locally - tulsa. the wife and i dropped it off. i gave my name on the ticket

when it was ready, the wife offered to pick it up for me.

she asked for it and was told that she had to get a background check completed before she could get it so she gave over the claim check - filled out the forms and waited for the check. she passed

i had not bought new guns until recently - i always went for the used guns from individuals. the last 2 tries - i was placed on hold and had to wait days to get it. the wife just gets passed in a few minutes????????

i guess i am not in touch - but had no idea that one has to pass the background check and fill out the forms to get a gun back from a gunsmith???????

if i had sent this back to ruger would i have ahd to go throught this type of check?

forgive an old fart - but this just seems strange to me????? or am i just out of touch?

Uh that's weird.

On a side note, manufacturers are able to receive and ship directly to the customer and skip the FFL completely when it comes to warranty work. When I had issues with my LWRCi rifle, they sent a prepaid fedex RMA and I just packed the rifle and took the packaged rifle to the fedex and dropped it off no questions ask. When they completed their work, they shipped the rifle directly to my house. No FFL transfers necessary or background checks.

A 4473 is only required if the one picking up the gun is not the same one who dropped it off. Sorry but I do not remember her with you when you dropped it off.
It is ok to put both your names on the gun when you drop it off, that way either of you can pick it up without filling out the form.
Just covering my butt.
