I have a handlebar pack on mine that I keep a can of pepper spray clipped to on the outside, and a Glock on the inside. Options are always good! 
Get one of those Kimber Pepper spray blasters....its shoots like 15 ft with no worries of blowback but it only has 2 shots so a pack of 6 dogs might not help now that I think of it. I'd just avoid the area or call animal control.....6 dogs running loose is not good, especially if any kids are in the area.
Get some bear spray, it will be much easier to hit multiple dogs at a greater distance.

Yeah, I need to call animal control. These dogs were not chasing me to be friendly and they sure as heck didn't appear as if they belonged to anyone. That area is pretty much rural with lots of woods and open fields... A prime spot for loose dogs to thrive.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Being on a bike means that I could be moving - even though that would not be the best method.
