all the buildings look like they are from the wild wild west
the name of the bar is "saloon"
there is 1 ATM
there are no stop lights
no city cops
everybody knows everybody and their business

I could go on...those in NW Oklahoma may identify the town I am referencing specifically

Sounds like shattuck to me...

I guess Davis isn't as small as I give it credit for. I will say that I grew up with almost every person in my graduating class, K-12th. The worst thing is trying to explain where Davis is. I usually have to ask if they've been to Falls Creek, Turner Falls, Arbuckle Wilderness, or know where Sulphur (or the Chickasaw park) is.

Here's my favorite...

You know you live in a small town when you stop in at the local easy-mart, get a tank of gas, go inside to pay and realize you left your wallet at home. :bah: Then, when you explain it to the person working behind the counter, they say, "nah...no biggie...just come back and pay me later."

I've actually had this happen to me too. Try THAT in OKC or Tulsa! The clerk would probably hand you a siphon hose and a bucket. :nono1:

I have been there, done that. ^^

My father was the town barber, town gun shop, and local fire chief.

And the police chief lived next door, so he knew every time you snuck out
at night, and would drive down to the river to make sure we weren't
drinking too much, or getting in trouble.

True story: About 20 years ago I tried to call my sister, thought I remembered the phone number (it only had 4 digits, and all of them started with 4), but mis-dialed. I recognized the person's voice who answered the phone, and she gave me my sister's correct number, without needing to look it up!

I was back "home" this last summer, not much has changed, but phone numbers do have 7 digits now.
