I will get flamed for this statement, but this incident and another in which a victim - a mother - was assaulted in her home in front of her toddler and the assault was captured on video has changed my Conceal Carry choice. I have been carrying a Glock in an iwb, w/o a round chambered, because of its lack of a hammer and a conventional safety. I always figured I could rack on the draw or chamber one real fast, and maintain a safety by not having one in the chamber. But that mom was attacked so fast that even if she had polymer on her, she would not have had time to rack a round. The same with Zimmerman - and as the Prosecution is so abley pointing out, Zimmerman was trained. Zimmerman was trained and Martin still got him down before he could draw. If Zimmerman did not have a round chambered, he would have been totally at the mercy of Martin. So I went back to carrying my Charter Arms .44 Special Bulldog Pug. Belt holster; high rider with a cant forward, shirt tail pulled over it, but tucked in everywhere else. I know - flame me. Zimmerman; a wanna be cop - whatever - he was trained and Martin still got him down. These things can happen so fast that there is no time to rack.

In a one on one confrontation of similar sized males and the aggressor is unarmed, where's the justification for using deadly force? Until the ass whuppin transitioned to getting his head bashed on the concrete (if that's what happened), Zimmerman didn't have justification to draw. The best defense in a similar situation is good judgement and situational awareness, not a sub 1 second draw from concealment.

If you're not comfortable carrying a Glock with a round in the chamber, then you made the right choice in changing guns. Most of us just carry one in the chamber and don't worry about it.

I loved AC360 last night! Some dull woman stating that Zimmerman just couldn't take a beating, and that the beating didn't justify charges, much less the shooting... So the other four people offered to smash her head in a curb. It was priceless

So are you saying that Zimmerman should have drawn a gun and been pointing at Martin before Martin did anything?

Sorry for the late reply, had to run down to Durant for groceries. No, Quick Draw, what I said was that if I got put on the ground like Zimmerman, I would not be able to rack a round into the chamber with him on top of me. Is best that a round is in the chamber. In the Glock, I've never had a round in the chamber because of the delicacy involved with getting it into the iwb holster. I had always thought I'd be able to rack real quick, but that video of that mom being attacked and Zimmerman's having been trained in martial arts and still getting put to the ground convinced me that going without a round chambered is fool hardy. The issue is more with the iwb holster than the Glock. I have a FOBUS that I wear the Glock in also, which does not present the intricate issues of holstering that the iwb does. But the iwb is far more concealable than the FOBUS. Despite being called a sub compact, the Glock 30 SF is anything but sub compact and an iwb is the best way I've found to conceal it.

Glock to Go, Michaeld, the only way I can truly hide my Glock and dress the way I normally do is with an iwb. Holstering the Glock without a conventional safety and a round in the chamber into my iwb is a delicate process. The FOBUS offers none of the unique challenges of the iwb, and in the cooler months I'd have no problem with going with the FOBUS and a round in the chamber of the Glock, since I'd have on a light jacket and it would be easily concealed. Let me reiterate: The iwb holster is what concerns me, not the Glock.

I'm not questioning whether or not he'll walk in the criminal trial.
BUT, When he chases this kid down the road, and he gets out of his car, is he still in his castle?

This case has never been about Stand your Ground, Castle Doctrine, or anything else. It is about "regular old" self defense. You're repeating the MSM talking points, here 'bend.
