Ya cant put them ALL in jail , then we would have to find something for them to do, it gets boring sittin around all day
If you're going to go with applying the law evenly...shouldn't Zimmerman have not been on trial in the first place?
That's kinda what I thought. His dad being a judge sure didn't seem to work for him when he was getting billed by a grand jury. EDIT: By Grand Jury, I meant railroad engineers.
Off-topic a little bit here, but it sounds like a few people here who carry pistols should carry revolvers instead. Given that they are not comfortable with one in the chamber.
Charges get reduced all the time. That's part of the whole bargain part of plea bargaining. It saves the state time and money, so if the guy has no prior criminal record, why not? Unless you have some proof of your allegations of corruption I'm going to have to side with standard operating procedure not worthy of removing one's constitutionally protected rights.
There are specific stipulations in Florida Statutes Section 948.08 that deal with Pretrial Intervention Program eligibility for controlled substance and drug offenders. The Statute states, “a person who is charged with a felony of the second or third degree for purchase or possession of a controlled substance …or obtaining a prescription by fraud; who has not been charged with a crime involving violence…and who has not previously been convicted of a felony nor been admitted to a felony pretrial program referred to in this section is eligible for voluntary admission into a pretrial substance abuse education and treatment intervention program…"

Just now turned on the news to get the latest on the trial, instead, it looks like Obama's man is out in Egypt, and that's what's being covered. Will have to go to Bing News...
Update: Looks like he told Hannity in an interview on TV that he didn't know much about Florida's self defense laws, but he made straight As in it in college in 2010. That's from an article I read on Bing news. Haven't got the straight skinny dip on it yet...
So we should revoke the constitutionally protected rights of everyone who, according to you, have a suspicious reduction in crimes in which they were charged?
