Does anyone else on the board not like 1911's?

All of those are great guns, but none have been recreated and tweeked nearly as much as the 1911.

:)

If tweeking is part of the criteria then I've made my point. You have to extensively "tweek" it to make it work.Yeah, that's what I want to defend my life with.HAHAHAHAHA

I can understand someone not liking the feel of the grip on a 1911 (not just talking about the "grips" talking about angle, height, etc), but I guess I am one of those people who rarely finds a gun that I dont like the feel of. I carry Glocks, but I LOVE 1911s. There is something spiritual about a 1911. Its more than a gun, its an ethos.

I haven't shot enough 1911s to even have an opinion. I have one but it's just an entry-level RIA Officer. I've probably put less than 5 mags thru it. I like it, sure, but don't have a love affair with it.

I have such a varied interest in handguns and greatly appreciate the history behind the various models and that is why I have a 1911. But when I leave the house, I either have a Glock (I only own one plastic gun) or an S&W wheel gun.

Again... 6000 rounds in the military tests of 1910... with zero malfuctions.

The people who screwed them up are the ones that started changing stuff they had no business changing.

See, the way I look at it, you have two was of running right... make everything loose fitting to begin with so that you will have a pistol that goes bang every time but is so loose that it's not as accurate.... OR... you can have something that is well thought out with tight tolerances in the right spots and you'll have a gun that goes bang every time and will put five rounds through a quarter... :thumbup3:

A well built gun usually doesn't even need oil. :)

Im sortof the same way. Like I said, its a "spiritual" thing. I got the chance to shoot a friends Colt SAA this weekend and decided that I would order an uberti SAA 4.75". I guess instead of playing the "This gun sucks" game, I prefer to appreciate the mechanism for what it is.

Well..... 1911s don't do this nearly as often... :rollingla

ouch... how do they disperse the energy in a detonation? From the photos I've seen, it looks like it goes out in all directions from the chamber and destroys anything in its path.... instead of just shooting the mag into the dirt like the 1911's should do.

Many have..Colt SAA,Winchester 1866,85,92,92,Marlin 1894,95,and on and on.Being 100 years old is no accomplishment, many firearm designs are.Good,it's an overly complicated, routinely unreliable piece of equipment that has an undeserved reputation derived from a bunch of 1911 Cool Aid drinkers.HAHAHAHAHAHA

Dude, you're kinda hard on the oldies aren't ya?
