I fear that this event, due to the publicity it received, will bring a number of law suits against the FD. The FD will be forced to change their policy of providing any fire coverage outside their area. At the end more people will suffer.

It will not result in one single lawsuit. Why are Okies so bassakwards? Do you people never get out of this craphole? There are hundreds of subsription fire departments all over the country that have the same policies. If you don't pay your dues you don't get the service. It's simple. Nothing complicated about it.

Must be the fluoride in the water.

Hey, Oklahoma is OK for me.

I'll make sure I check in with the FD every time I visit a small town outside OK. Problem solved.

Of course not. They put a lien on his burnt trailer. That will work out well.

I know a case that a persons house burned and they couldn't afford to clean it up so the city cleaned it up and took possesion of the land. The city sold it for more than the original cost to clean it up and kept the change.

That is all I heard about it but why couldn't they do the same thing?

IIRC : It wasn't in the city... it wasn't even in the same county. The FD was in Tenn and the house was in Kentucky.
How would there be jurisdiction to do that?

It was in a different state? I didn't know that. I should re-read the story.

If a contractor provides a service to a homeowner that doesn't pay they can file a lien against their property. It doesn't really do much good unless they try to sell said property but sooner or later they will get it.

Granted I agree with what you are saying, there's no integrity in insulting, blanket statements such as this.

Stop paying on your house even if your loan originated in another state and tell me how that jurisdiction works out for you. The only issue would be that it was a verbal contract.
