Not allowed to make silencers

You all know that I am opening a store next month but my insurance company let me know that they will not cover me (they will drop me) if I make any silencers.

This is a large Gun Store NRA associated insurance company but if I want to make silencers I have to go with another company that wants to charge me Major dollars to be a manufacturer.

Since this is a new venture I have decided to just carry a few major manufacturers cans and spend my time and efforts doing what I already do best, Repair guns.

Our store will have a slow start due to growing pains but I do plan to be a Glock stocking dealer, and carry self defense guns to begin with.

That is probably the real reason. In this sue happy time we live in, being a manufacturer opens you up to all kinds of hassles. Some dumba$$ shoots himself in the foot with something you made and the lawyers will be lining up to file suit because you did not stamp "point this end away from body before pulling the trigger" on the end of the can.

2 Questions: What type of paperwork is involved if an individual wants to make a suppressor for their own personal use?

What would you charge to provide materials and subject matter expertise to someone building their own suppressor?

That would cost you a whole lot more than you'd be willing to pay, I promise. Somewhere around 10 years and $250,000 IIRC.
