I believe you reference was to a Democracy, but nice try.

our system of government is commonly referred to as a democracy. if you want me to add the word "representative" in there every time i can.

if you think the will of the people doesn't affect the decisions of the elected officials, you're...just wrong.

That is the core problem, it is not a democracy, it is a republic. The representative part is a qualifier at best.

Never disagreed with this. Simply wish people would stop using a word that, broken down, means mob rule, even tho it is increasingly accurate.

Hey can't we all just get along??????

And BTW captainfuzzybritches calling people names on here who have a pretty good reputation just because you don't agree with them is not just juvenile it probably won't win you the "best new guy" popularity contest. Just saying!

I don't get as concerned about the representative part. Our form of government is a "...Republic, if you can keep it." It is not yet a democracy, which means mob rule, although it grows closer every day. I have absolutely no argument with your second statement. I could care less about what is "common". I can recall when that word was used as a perjorative.

Getting along it far too boring :)

Did he call anyone a name other than a "ninny?" I read through his posts and didn't see anything else.

yup i was alive during the bush administration i know

Funny but I was talking about the lefties efforts to silence the Tea Party, Foxnews and anyone else who does not agree with them.

Agreed. It is called a Constitutional Convention. The Amish will flourish long after the Hippie LibComs are gone. The people who think that the three branches of government can ignore or interpret the Constitution at their convenience just crack me up.

Exactly and strangely enough, none of the elected officials are in favor of having one. :D
