Being attacked by a mob, regardless of their ethnic background, ought to be a justification for defending oneself.

I know this much, if I have a mob of angry people, armed with dangerous devices coming after me, I'll take my chances with the DA and the jury. I know that I'm right to defend myself when I reasonably fear for my life.

Could be pointed out that the neighbor whose home he was begging to be let into when the mob caught him might have have been justified in using deadly force to protect him. At least in OK... not sure about Alabama law. But in OK, you can. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Im pretty sure getting beat down by a mob is going to end either in great bodily harm or death
