sat morning I saw a small buck with a hot doe heading into thick. They were not trotting off or running it was a very slow walk both were very calm, she in front he right behind about 3-4 lengths and she was rasing and lowering her tail very slowly and sticking it straight out. I think he was about to breed her or just did.

no pics in the last few days, the corn is pyling up under the feeder, and have not seen much of anything. I will go out the evenings this week see if something is stirring. I think the cold front moving in will help them move tomorrow night and this weekend should be good to.. again I am speculating I have more seat time this year that I have ever had with all my previous years combined! and I am disappointed of what I am seeing, granted it is a new place and I am still learning it but dam lets see some deer!

on a side note I got lost out there this weekend for couple hours and I found some real good trails they have been using and it seems they all lead to the vine looking stuff lots of vines and it looks like small green beans growing and they are killing them! as far as they can reach them. I was just curious if anyone knew what they were off the top of their head.

Sound like winter peas, although it seems early for peas to already have pods.

Could be wild peas. We have some with pods on them, odd for this time of year, but I can confirm. They're very small and not very tasty compared to when they normally come in. Probably more of an oddity you will never see again this time of year.

I saw one of my resident does walk across the front yard headed for the oats just at dusk. She seemed calm but looked over her shoulder and nothing followed. I feel sure she has been bred because 10 days a go she was being tailed by a nice 10 point. Daytime activity is non existent and these deer are not pressured at all.

Did someone forget to pass out the testosterone at the local deer watering hole? what the heck is going on!!!

Seems like this whole season is topsy turvy for all of us. It's like the rut happened all in one night, we all missed it. Argh!!

I will hunt until the season closes, then hunt Holiday Antlerless, but tonight we made plans to fill the empty freezer thats normally for venison with a 1/2 carcass of Angus. Don't get me wrong, we love us some beef, but venison is special and always will be. this year, we will just have less of it. We have both Doe and Buck tags, so right now all bets are off. Won't be taking fawns or button bucks, but all others are game.

Saw this guy wandering south end of Cushing on Thanksgiving. Stood right there (100 yds from road) and let wife take his picture.

Same reports on our lease by Freedom. I haven't seen a deer since the opening evening of rifle; and I have hunted all but a few days. Cameras have movement either at last light or midnight. Bucks have completely came off the feeders.

The rut was on middle of November on that lease. I shot a buck chasing a doe that looked like she was about to fall over on 11/15. Since that time we have seen very little movement. And this is a 7300 acre lease.

My brother was here for 7 days and we hunted them all, 3 different farms.....12 degrees the first morning hunt and 60's the last evening we hunted. All in all those were a tough 7 days, some deer were seen but it was sloooow, he had one chance at a shooter but was blocked by a cedar tree and couldn't get on him. He saw quite a few does and I saw a few does and small bucks....we moved stands, hunted from the ground, moved around but just couldn't make it happen. He had to eat his $280 non-resident tag, but we had a great time hanging out, catching up and knocking a few back after the hunts. I think we have started what will hopefully be a Thanksgiving week tradition for years to come.

saw a huge buck tonight right at 535pm, he came in looking and crossed the trail I watched him, wind in my face and he froze behind some sticks for about a minute and then quickly trotted off the way he came blowing his head off...wtf! first shooter all year and a very very nice one at that. I am so upset Sh*T Sh*T Shi*t, I checked cameras, one crapped out the other on that side had does coming in at last light the last three days, and then I have small bucks eating together at 1130am for a long time.. so something is changing for sure, don't know if they are preparing for the winter storm or if they are taking a break from pumping and a sweatn!
