Responsible hunters all across Oklahoma should let their displeasure be heard. It is ******** when 2 guys get caught red handed poaching a trophy buck from a protected area in a state park and are fined less than a $1000. each. Several charges were presented the Caddo County D.A. Jason Hicks and he decided to only write a couple citations.
This is a picture of the newspaper picture and a little information under the picture. (I took this pic in late November or early December and unfortunately don't have that paper still)

This picture is the newspaper article about the punishments given.

This is an utter shame to our game wardens who work countless hours trying to catch the poachers. Its a disappointment to those who obey the laws and put themselves at risk to turn in the poachers. Let's be heard!

Interesting that neither had a lawyer, and the DA is the same one that was under fire last year for hiring private contractors for drug interdiction on I-40 and splitting the proceeds of civil forfeiture cases (which do not require a conviction, and can even take place after a "not guilty" verdict in a related criminal case) with the contractors.

Something smells fishy.

Pretty sure Hicks is up for election, too.

Jared, if you're browsing through here, a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. Who sets the amounts for the fines? If the fines are the same state wide, how can particular county DA on a whim, decide whether the full amount or partial amount be paid. I know my GW spent several nights out in an attempt catch some guys, then would make a run to check waterfowl hunters, home for a quick bite to eat, then out to patrol for pheasant hunters.....................what a kick in the nuts for you guys after all the time spent. The article mentions paperwork to be filed in order for the two men to face a judge..............what happened there?
