Awe man..that sucks.

Directly ask your supervisor (before the end of the day) what will happen to you since there have been others let go.

***If they say termination*** tell your supervisor what you've told us. All positive aspects about your job, your work ethic, and dedication.

The reason why I tell you to do this. If your boss has to let you go, interject those aspects and ask if they would give you two weeks notice to look for a job...at least some time.

If you feel that it's the right momnet, ask for a month's notice before they let you go. The least they would do is say "no".

Always ask for a reference and at your next interviews(if asked) tell them your company downsized amd you were let go.

Start looking now if the feeling is grim....state, city, university, hospital complex (Lincoln), county, turnpike, apply like crazy...

If you're willing to fight for the job, make it clear to your boss you want to help him fix what is wrong. Be more efficient, cut out the bullcrap, cold call, make your product better for the customer.

Small businesses need problem solvers, not paycheck earners.

Good luck! Even if it doesn't work out, learn everything you can and take those lessons to the next gig.

Why wait and worry. Hope is not a course of action.

Ask them respectfully and directly, "What are your plans for me?".

Been there, done that. I was assured I would not be part of the layoff that was coming, 3 weeks later, I was gone. During times like that, I have little to no respect for what a boss has to say. They are all about saving their own skin at that point in the game, especially if the calls are coming from above your boss.

Tend to agree with you there ... I always looked like I was gonna stay and go down with the ship ... right up until the time I left. There was one law firm that fought me tooth and toenail to get me to leave my vested retirement funds with them. Not long after I FINALLY got them to cut me my check they filed for bankruptcy ... women that I worked with there, who had spent their entire working careers with that firm lost every single penny in their accounts.

That was a real eye-opening experience for me ...

Agreed, but that's no reason to sit and wait for the hammer to fall. Keep up your workload, be direct with the boss and ask him what's going on, and quietly draft up an exit plan. LOL.

Best wishes to you. Many of us have experienced what you are dealing with, and it really sucks. But, I'm sure most of us will also tell you that almost always, we bounce back on our feet, and normally end up better than we were before the layoff.

Boss came in. I asked him to come into my office.

I asked him straight up if I had anything to be worried about. - He said no.

I asked what the deal with the guy that got let go was - He said that a mistake he had made ended up with us being fined $53,000.00

I asked the boss if the guy who trained me coming into the office meant a change for me, and if so, what the change was - He said perhaps, but that I would be doing the same thing and helping him do the job (easements) that the guy who got let go did.

My boss then told me he would be in the office A LOT more and that he is buying a house in Oklahoma City. Currently he has a 800 acre ranch in Logan County and a mansion east of Arcadia.

He then told me that I was his "left hand man", and that the guy who is moving into the office 100% of the time is his "right hand man".

It looks good, but we'll see.

Much like when a new President comes into office, I have officially taken control of our "big red book" that has all of the information about our server. I had been in about 60% control of it. Now I have 100% of it under my responsibility.
