I wasn't saying you did, sorry if that's how it sounded. I'm actually very proud of OSA not pit-hating in this thread like they normally do.

Oh, no, Sir! coajyn. You never implied that. I was just stating that I don't hold this breed responsible. Most pits are not like this. Dogs of any breed could be dangerous. The one that nearly took off Clay's face was not a large dog.

Nope, a Britney springer or something like that. He was large to me as a little fella though.
Like this.

Those dogs that are backing off when you pull your weapon have been hit with a stick.
Pick up a stick or bat and raise it and I bet they will cower down a bit.

A non paying renter in my grandmothers rent house needed to pay or get out.
He had a pit chained up on the porch and it would not let you near the front door.

Dad got a section of gas pipe and proceeded up to the house ,, dog barking and carrying on.
The 3 foot section of pipe was raised in a fashion as to beat the dog and the dog cowered down and tucked tail and laid there as my dad knocked on the door.

I used to chase and play fun games with my Fila Mastiff with a stick and she was not scared of the stick.

I also have taught all my dogs a different way to sit down.
I say sit and raise my hands up high in the air,, pretty soon all I need to do is raise my hands and the dog sits..
My dogs were big mostly and I do not allow jumping on people or bighting games.

When small kids not knowing my dogs would go out to play in the yard and the dog comes near them the child would usually freak out and raise their hands in the air.

Well That means sit and my dog/dogs would sit.

Feel free to teach your dogs that.

Man I am sorry that the dogs are back at it.. this may not end well.

It wouldn't be a happy ending for the aggressive mutts, if this crap kept happening to me.

No offense, but 145 posts later I keep hearing about an 'Alaskan'

That dog is obviously dangerous and loose....to the point that you have to fear for your Wife's life?

Put the freaking Dog down already.

JR. you need to ask yourself this. Are your neighbors going to blame the cops/animal control when they come out, take them, and euthanize them? (They will be put down, there's no way they get re-homed)

Answer: No.

They are going to blame you for calling them in the 1st place. You've stated that they won't understand if you shoot them. That right there says they just aren't "qualified" to have dogs like this. Bottom line is you are getting blamed in any case. My take is that it would be better to put them down. It will be better for the dogs. It's a crappy situation when you have trashy neighbors and it's not your fault whatever happens. It's just that what ultimately happens seems to be an inevitability and you are in no way responsible for it. Whatever way you go only has to be "good" with you, to hell with what everybody else thinks. Just my two cents.

He makes an advance, sees the Alaskan, and backs into an unfavorable target position. To take a shot from this position would be totally irresponsible. He joins his mates, and they are all barking. Am notifying the Sheriff''s dept to have this put on the record.

If this is an accurate view of the mutt, and not a zoom-in pic, then it looks like a pretty clear shot to me. There's more to this than meets the eye, I say.

I would have taken that shot easily. Downward angle...an Alaskan isn't going to ricochet off path.
In fact I would shot all 3 maybe, using my 1911. 3 easy shots.
