Is it because the students would rather throw haymakers at mall cops?
Or is it because america is pussified?

Im trying to shine a light through that dense fog which you call logic.

Let me clear the fog. The incident in the O/P and the ones that GM just posted are the direct result of methods like yours. Why? You still can't see it? Let me clear it up for you. It's because the kids now know that there are no real consequences. There are no consequences that they are unwilling to deal with. The cop in the O/P being fired, and the public outcry just told every school kid in the nation that your teacher can't touch you, your principle can't touch you, and even the police can't touch you either. And if they do? Lawyers will come running and they'll get you a check with 6 zeros after the first number or two and you'll be on TV as a bonus, you might even get a trip to meet the president and tour the white house too if you happen to be the right ethnicity.

So I guess where we are right now is that kids know they have the upper hand and unless they are actively shooting up the school and killing people there's not a damn thing anyone can will do about it, so short of that they can do as they damn well wish.

Ugh... I just glanced at a copy of today's Oklahoman... Looks like there's a resource officer right here in the Sooner state accused of using excessive force against a student... Anyone want to go all clicky clicky and find a link to something digital?

As a retired school admin. with experience from Mid school, H.S., and central office totaling 27 yrs I would not have handled this student the way this school did.

1. When the student refused to put the phone away, teacher should contact building office.
2. Asst Principal arrives to assess the situation. They immediately clear the room of all students when she refuses to leave or even get up.
3. Asst. Principal contacts principal and requests they call parent and brief them. While that is going on request counselor to speak with student.
4. If available ask for security or resource officer to join Principal, asst principal, teacher, and counselor in empty classroom. Each will explain their position on this matter to the student in an effort to persuade the student to see the futility of her stand, the consequences of her actions, etc
5. Asst Principal lays out her violations thus far with punishments. Those could include, interfering with the normal operation of the class /school, which is suspend-able
for sure.
6. If all this fails, use all present EXCEPT the counselor to remove her from the chair, cuff her, and take her to the office.
7. See that parent or legal guardian picks up student and takes them home.

Now I would suspend her for 10 days minimum either to the home or in school suspension. She would also be placed on probation for the remainder of the semester. During that time if she created any further disruptions in that class or any other classroom that warranted action from the office she would receive a 30 day suspension to ISS. Due process for both suspensions would be offered.

Screw all that whimpy, liberal, pussified junk.

Call the cop.
And then...

Just something to consider, but only by reasonable people. You can go ahead with your liberal agenda, others can handle this.

It always gets back to some conspiracy involving liberal agendas. Thats the default answer you give to anyone who disagrees with you.
I nominate you as the Troll of the month! posted to other thread

Read crrcboatz post for guidance. The students are not in control, but the teachers have to take appropriate action. For what we know about this case, the teacher did not do the right thing and it cost the officer his job.
