*sigh* I'll probably regret this, but...

GED, here's what I see happening. You'll sell the old skool to get the new skool, then sell the new skool to get the old skool again.... repeat.... lol...

I honestly love my AR's and am currently going to a "simple is better" way of doing things with my rifles. Everytime I pick up an AR that is all business it makes me smile and want to shoot stuff!

On one hand I say keep the good oldies and toss the level in the truck. I wouldnt mess with an old school guy who pulls a 30-30 level outa his truck.

But I also want an AR but I think im gonna build one exactly the way I want and go with a piston upper for it.

So there is my 2cents haha

I would say get it, but I am wanting a 16" large loop '94 100th anniversary, so I'm biased

That's EXACTLY what mine is. :naughty:

Are you needing a carbine for use at work? or just wanting a new toy?

Basically, it's just for work. :police2:

How about OlYeller's Mini-14? A little bit old school and a little bit new!

I PITY TH' FOOL! (A-Team reference for those of you that are a little slow)

BC

I never did care for the Mini-14s or Mini-30s. :disappoin

Well, if you are needing a carbine for work, have you thought about an M1 carbine or something else? Not trying to say you don't realize that there are other weapons equally capable for what you need, just trying to get into your line of thinking.

What is your reason for wanting an AR? or is that only what your dept. will allow?

It's simply a "popularity" thing. Most (if not all) cops in my area (county wide) that do have patrol rifles, have ARs. There may be a Mini-14 or two in a deputy's unit, but for the most part, everybody has ARs.

I reckon I'm just not a huge rifle aficionado, regardless of what type it is. Like this Winchester for example. I've shot maybe 100 rounds thru it, but I'm still not real satisfied with where it hits. I'd say it's probably me and not the rifle, but I can score in the high 90s with my Glock 22 and my Mossberg 590. Hell, even my little Smith & Wesson J frame model 38 Airweight Bodyguard shot an 88 last time we qualified! :ugh2:

I've just never been a very good rifle shot for some reason. :anyone:
