I always get a receipt. Just in the last month, I was overcharged at Dollar General and Braums. The Dollar General experience made me want to pull my hair out. I paid cash and looked at the receipt. I saw that they charged me for an item twice. I pointed it out before leaving the cashier area. The manager needed my full name, address, and phone number before he would give me the $10 back. I had just paid with cash 30 seconds prior. I gave him phony information and got my $10 back.

Good Lord that kind of **** drives me NUTS!! 😬

Don't work for me. The Mrs can't tell the difference betwixt an 03A3 and a Finn M39, but she can most certainly count.
Mine too, which is why they are locked in the safe and only one per type ever comes out. She has zero interest in my safe. She’s perfect :)

Only place (I recall?) that I've encountered the "offer" of a receipt was at a local liquor store. After thinking about it the other day, I told her no.

On a side note... actually had a Walmart cashier say she loved me a few days ago. She's really sweet and I always go thru her lane if she's on shift. She remembers my sweet wife well, and we reminisced about her a bit and talked about my health issues/improvements this year. Told her I loved her too.

Life is too short. Enjoy the good when/where ya find it. :thumb:

I work part-time retirement job at a liquor store,,,
The owner is always on my butt for not asking that question.

It's to save the cost of the register paper,,,
But it seems ridiculous to me.

What irks me is at the McDonalds I frequent,,,
The dumb-arse kids always ask me if I want my pennies.

I called one on it one day by saying,,,
"Why in heavens name would I not want my pennies?

The kid said, "because they are just pennies,,,
My response to him was, "Yeah, but they are my pennies.",,,
"Fork 'em over before I get angry and do something I'll probably regret!"

After this happened to me on multiple occasions,,,
I parked and went inside to talk to the manager.

He told me that the kids were doing this on his direction,,,
When I asked him "Why?", he said it was "more efficient not to have to count pennies"

My reply was a resounding "Huh?"

He said even though the Point of Sale computer will calculate the change for them,,,
Way too many of his teenage employees get confused by pennies in change.

Heaven forbid I give them pennies to make my change come out even,,,
That would probably (and it often does),,,
Make their tiny brains go blank.

I just shook my head in disbelief and went back to my car,,,
I go to the McDonalds across town now.

If they aren't smart enough to count pennies,,,
How can I trust them to make my food?.

You will be absolutely amazed at the number of kids (30s and under) who tell me to just keep the change. I'm like are you out of your mind?? A couple of the middle school age kids who are buying food for themselves and their brothers and sisters every night I've kinda taken under my wing and shown them what they are giving away to the grocery store every day ... Week ... Month. When they see that they could literally buy several days' worth of groceries with what they are leaving there they are amazed.

I took a trip a couple of weeks ago and when I fille dup it was around $75.00 and I want a receipt! Some stations there isn't a problem, it prints out at the gas pump. Other stations ?Pilot and a few others didn't print out a receipt and these days I thinks it's good to back some backup if your "other vehicle" is in Del Rio and just filled up at $150.00. It happened to me onetime and the cc company made good on the charge. Also had a Doctor's office bill me after I paid for the visit and got a receipt. I went in and asked how much I owed and she said $XX and I tossed the receipt at her and never heard another word.

I make almost all of my purchases (except fast food) with a credit card,,,
I always ask for a receipt as I keep a "register" just like a checkbook.

It's a rare thing for any extra charges to be made,,,
Like in 26 years with this card,,,
It's happened twice.

But I also pay my card off each and every week,,,
My entire budget is weekly based,,,
It's just easier for me.

At my part-time job the Point of Sale (POS) register/computer,,,
Only prints out receipts for credit card purchases,,,
I have no way of printing a receipt for cash.

What I'm supposed to do when someone demands a paper receipt,,,
Which by the way is required by law if they actually ask for one,,,
Is get their e-mail address and "add" them into the POS,,,
Then it will e-mail them a receipt.

I finally went to Staples and bought a pad of paper receipts ala 1950's,,,
I just stamp the store name on it and write an amount.

The owner doesn't like it but it takes way too long to do the "add a customer" thing,,,
Invariably it also only happens when I have a line of customers waiting.

The owner says it would cost too much to get a printer for cash sales,,,
I think she just doesn't want to deal with the problem.

I can dig it,,,
It's a Ma & Pa small business,,,
And the owner is a sweetheart of a person,,,
But it sure is a pain in the patootie for all of us clerks.

I'm the only "old fart" there besides the owner who is 10 years my senior,,,
The rest of the clerks are all young millennials,,,
Who can't count change on their own.

I'm putting every penny of my paychecks towards my new car loan,,,
The moment I have it paid off I'm turning in my key,,,
And going back to being a retired loafer.

They are going to start charging for the receipt. Just wait and see.
it's their receipt; they can charge you whatever they want for it.
in fact, i am going to start a movement to willingly pay ****even more*** for my receipts just to inflate the price of yours.

capitalism baby. love it or LEAVE IT
