I haven't updated pictures of our season so far. They are keeping me busy being the guide to these kids.
My middle daughter hasn't even been yet. plus i need to hunt myself. lol
My 12 yo has got the bug and wants to go every chance he has. My oldest daughter is 19 and is so busy in school that barely goes much anymore, but when she does she kills. Same with my middle girl (17).
So my son is trying to hard to out do them!
He went on a doe hunt early in the season and got two huge does, then in youth rifle shot the first buck he saw 6pt, Saturday morning (rifle opener) he saw the little 8 point not long after daylight, i couldn't see it from my position in the blind, but he told me its a mounter! (keep in mind both his sisters have deer on the wall.)
He assured me its a big one and he is taking it. He makes a good shot, even though he was shaking so so bad! well wasn't quite a mounter, but he was super thrilled, and decided to do a European mount instead. he keeps telling me how big his brow tines are :) ..so he tagged out on bucks. but wants to go for more does and has another draw doe hunt coming next month.
My oldest set by herself for the first time and got a double on does.
Hoping over the thanksgiving break both girls get time to get out with me, and maybe ill get a late season bow buck.
I get a lot of enjoyment watching them love the hobby i love and spending time in the stand with them.
but man it keeps me busy. then there is duck season LOL

I’m more than likely coming up next week just because it’s deer season and that’s what I feel like I’m supposed to do, but what I’m currently seeing on my cameras reinforces why I try so hard to get on a buck early in October.
There no consistency in buck movement, and the ones I’m seeing are broke up and missing at least one point. The idea of seeing new bucks during the rut sounds like something that could happen, but in 20 years, I can count on one hand with fingers left over the number of new “trophy” bucks that have moved through in November. Unfortunately, the few that have didn’t hang around until I got up there to hunt.
Here’s one that kind of haunts me that showed up and moved on never to be seen again.
