One wide 8pt with zero mass cruised through at 445 and that's all we saw, offered no bow shot. Didn't hear any shots tonight either.

I wasn’t out there but lots of does from 4:30 to 5:30. Now it’s obvious that I need to go on raccoon patrol.

I saw no deer at all this evening. Nada. But close to 5:30, this coyote showed herself at nearly 300 yds and when I squeaked on the back of my hand, she turned and came running. She ducked into the brush only to pop out at 60 yds. Big mistake!

15 years I’ve hunted this little 65 acres and it’s always supplied me with something. May not always be a old bruiser but I ain’t complaining

My daughter wanted a coyote skull to match brothers, so I was mostly coyote hunting tonight. Went to my best coyote spot and got skunked. Saw one coyote a half mile away, six does, a really unintelligent 3 pointer. And a bunch of specks/snows/cacklers

Geese are moving in. Heard them all day in north edmond. High groups headed south, sky high groups dropping into the local lakes etc.

I wish I would’ve had my shotgun this morning. The wind kept birds flying low. I could’ve limited on Sandhills and canadas from my “stand” on a hill top. Coulda got one whooping crane too. There’s definitely a lot more birds than during muzz season. Saw fewer ducks though.

I’m more than likely coming up next week just because it’s deer season and that’s what I feel like I’m supposed to do, but what I’m currently seeing on my cameras reinforces why I try so hard to get on a buck early in October.
There no consistency in buck movement, and the ones I’m seeing are broke up and missing at least one point. The idea of seeing new bucks during the rut sounds like something that could happen, but in 20 years, I can count on one hand with fingers left over the number of new “trophy” bucks that have moved through in November. Unfortunately, the few that have didn’t hang around until I got up there to hunt.
Here’s one that kind of haunts me that showed up and moved on never to be seen again.

We very rarely get a new nice buck in November. We get 1 or 2 almost every late December/early January though.

I got my skull cooked and cleaned today, and I’ll get some dollar store peroxide tomorrow to whiten it.
