I dont know for a fact, but i've "heard" that .270 kicks just as hard, if not harder than a 30-06. But that could be just hearsay. I've never shot a .270 personally.

06, you'll never feel the recoil while shooting game!!!
While I was upgrading from the 30 30, most everybody I knew that had a 06 wished they had got a 270.
I think the 270 with a 140 grain bullet is more than enough for anything around here

I've seen 270 everywhere plus it recoils less and does most everything most people can do with 308.
I have no problem with .270. I've owned a couple and wouldn't feel uncomfortable using the caliber on anything in the lower 48. BUT, where do you get the idea that it recoils less than .308?
Compare the cases. The .270 has much greater powder capacity than .308 and if both are loaded to capacity, the .270 will ALWAYS kick harder.

Assuming same weight rifle etc.

Buddy has much heavier 308 which recoils about the same as my hunting weight 270...

I've hunted deer with a .270 since I was 16, and I love it. I bought a .308 in 2008, and I love it. I think there should be room for both in most people's safes!

I haven't done extensive load development for either one, but for the moment I'm shooting a 150 grain Sierra in the .270 and a 165 grain NBT in the .308. Trajectories for my particular loads are nearly identical to 400 yards, so for hunting there's no practical difference (ballistically).
