1. From Bondage to resistance;

2. From resistance to great courage;

3. From courage to liberty;

4. From liberty to abundance;

5. From abundance to complacency;

6. From complacency to apathy;

7. From apathy to dependence;

8. From dependence back into bondage

I'll say we are at 7 hitting the gas pedal to 8.

Parts of the country (left and east coast) are a solid 6 and don't realize it or are okay with it. And here in the right minded heart of america we are a 4 and pissed with the way those morons are running our country in the ground.

November's election puts us between 6 and 8. As 7stw says, it varies by region.

How many Americans depend on a government program for a basic (or not so basic) need? According to recently released Census Bureau data and Heritage Foundation calculations, the number is 128.8 million. That is the number of individuals directly receiving aid that they depend on for their daily consumption of things such as rent, prescription drugs, and higher education.

That is 41.3 percent of the U.S.population as of July 2011.

The Wall Street Journal puts the number of people living in a household where at least one member receives help at an even higher 49.1 percent

If half the population is getting a check from Uncle Sugar, that strikes me as somewhat dependent.

Definitely at 7 at least....maybe a little further towards 8. Pretty much "Hell" in a hand basket. Everywhere you look there's less God and more entitlement and tolerance. For example: just look at what the media and the gay community is doing to the Boy Scouts!! Just sickening. The little "fellas" should start their own organization and have all the sleep over parties they want and leave well enough alone.
