Just sitting on the ramp at OKC waiting to head to Sacremento. Been sitting for 35 minutes with engines running while they check on a tail cone baggage light. The pilots have advised that they are aware it is an erroneous indication, but yet we are still sitting. Now listen, this is what I do for a living so I'm not getting into the legality of departing with said light, but I think we all know what's going on here. Just my little rant.

Must have been an MD80. Even if it is erroneous (tail cone wasn't jettisoned), I'd suspect someone still has to check it out and possibly manually reset it.

They aren't allowed to take the flight with that light on.

Let's not forget that with AA in disarray, the FAA is crawling all over the company, its equipment, and its employees -- which is obviously not normally the case.

If I were an AA pilot, I, too, would be operating as close to the exact letter of the law as possible.
