How often do you buy guns at Academy Sports? I find they have some of the best prices in the Tulsa area. They have the Remington 870 with synthetic stock and extended magazine for $359.....No too bad...Can't wait til next week....Should be selling my Taurus and buying the shottie. I'm wanting one for the house....:yelclap:

ive also found that they have some great deals.. the only problem is that they cannot order any specific models.. what they have on display is what you get.. they have a purchaser who decides what guns each store receives, and it can vary from one shipment to the next.. if you find the model you like, you have to buy it quickly because they may not have it next time.. it may be more stable on rifles and shotguns, but I do know their pistol selection changes frequently.

I haven't bought any guns from academy, Yet.

Just wait until you get your first "escort" out of the store when you buy a weapon. Freaking funny, makes you feel like your a criminal or somthing.

They are ok though, In the past ive bought a few guns there. They have the cheapest target ammo, that monarch is CHEAP...

The only problem with Academy is they don't back up their sales with service. They expect you to resolve any problems with your purchase directly with the manufacturer.

One of my local gun shops helped an Academy customer who purchased a Remington of some sort resolve a function problem when Academy refused to return the gun to Remington or give the customer any assistance at all. The problem was with the gun as purchased. not something that came up after shooting.

Just keep that in mind.

Tried to once, never again.

I delay on 4473's they wont transfer if they don't get the approval, never had one that didn't get a call back anywhere else so academy can stuff it up their collective hind ends.

They have good prices on some things and not so much on others. Their S&W MP15-22 is about $40, after tax, higher than I can get it on Bud's with the transfer fee. Their Heritage RR .22 pistols go on sale for $129.99, and I've heard rumors of $99 for Black Friday, which I can't find cheaper anywhere else.

Academy is on my price check list, along with a few other places, when I start determining how much I am willing to spend on a gun.
