I've bought several guns from Academy without any problems. Customer service is so-so, but I knew exactly what I wanted when I went in there. As far as being walked out, it doesn't bother me in the least. I understand their policy and reasoning behind it. Besides, they aren't the only place that has that same policy. Wal-mart and other do this as well. I've never really understood why anyone would have a problem with this.

My only complain about buying guns from Academy is that it takes 2-3 times longer than anywhere else I have ever bought from. Buy a gun at big boys-20 or so minutes. Buy one from Academy-almost an hour.

I have been looking for a .22 rifle for awhile and academy has the best prices I can find so the wife is getting me one for christmas from there. She will probably just send me with the money so she doesn't have to deal with the service and wait and then make me hide it from myself until christmas morning.

I agree that Monarch ammo is inexpensive but it's also fairly dirty, at least it was on the last and only time I used it which was several months ago

Price is NOT everything. Ask one of their "sales persons", if you can get them from visiting with each other, a technical question about one of the guns. Good Luck

Same at most gun stores i've ever been too. I've had a decent gun store in town salesman or whatever you want to call them lie to my face about a gun when i didn't even ask there opinion on it. In my opinion if you haven't done your research before you walk in then you shouldn't be buying it. You also find out what others are charging for the gun then you know if its a good deal or not.

I've bought a couple guns from academy and have had positive experiences both times. No problems and everybody was decent to me. They do have some very good prices on some guns and others aren't that impressive.
