How about we take the guy who WAS THERE side of the story? A longtime member here and a respect LEO

I'll take his side of the story and not listen to an internet armchair quarterback

Me too.

I've been in MoJo's scenario. It's spooky as hell and you have split-second time to make a decision that history can judge you by for the rest of your life.

Anybody who wants to look at it differently are more than welcome to go on a ride along with any LEO they choose, including myself. Sometimes a hands-on experience is enough to show people the light.

Again, my hat's off to my brother in blue MoJo. He did the right thing.

And to all the others out there, just remember...if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd ALL have a merry Christmas.

I didn't think charging the kid would help his situation. He was educated on what could have happened and the possible recourse of his actions. We don't have a juvenile lock up facility in Creek County. So whether I charged him or not, he wouldn't benefit from it. He was released to his parents. His dad was on his way home from work early and mom said he would be disciplined as soon as we left. I hope the fact that he had a brush with death was all that he needed to not make any more choices like that in the future.

what about the parents of the other kid? "little johnny pulled a knife on my son and the police let him go."

just curious

when I was young the police made us underagers, pour out all of our beer

The example you gave is basically the same call Sgtmojo made. You do realize that underage consumption of alcohol is illegal and could lead to charges being filed?

I know it doesn't make a difference but I feel 100% you did the right thing. Not as if it's even a question. But kudos to sir.
But on a separate note, I think the 21 foot rule is garbage. IMO.

And little foot, I think you need more experience in the things you say. It has already been discussed but I hope you knew what the Use of Force Continuum was before today.

My job is to protect and serve. We are they to solve problems. I don't always have to arrest someone to get the job done. If I had a lock up facility it would have been different. Arresting him Ghent turning him over to the parents to me doesn't leave any time for reflection. Putting the family under financial burden because I charged him isn't going to help either. I pray that if he thinks about doing it again that he will remember what happened last time.....

Sorry but what you are saying is ...experience is the best teacher.
And no discipline is not illegal , beating a kid is not the way to teach them...teaching them is the way to teach them.
Kids are just Little People that dont know yet...they need to be taught ...not beat.
From the 7th grade until the 9th grade I went to the Principals office....I'm here for my swats...What swats you havent done anything yet?
In the 9th grade I said no more swats....I'm not learning that way....so the Teachers started ..Teaching me...it worked.
Ive seen too many little kids beat by their drunken or drug abusing parents to ever agree that beating does any good....now talking to them made me many friends ....parents and kids.
Teach your children and all you come into contact with...you may be the Best example of an Adult some Kids Ever meet.
Good Job Officer .
.didnt mean to hijack your thread ,but this is something close to me

You've mistaken what I'm saying.you've confused "beating" a child compared to disciplining a child. I in no way condone beating a child, but some good ol fashioned ass busting is needed for some kids. Big difference.
