For me a movie has to be believable before it is scary. So my list is a bit different than most.
"Sum of All Fears", both the book and the movie. Way too believable.
"Arachnaphobia" While I don't believe in Jason, Freddie or Michael Myers, I do believe in spiders.
"Play Misty for Me" it's an old Clint Eastwood movie about a stalker.
"Ghost Story" is another good one, although it's in the non-believable genre.

One of the VERY few other horror films I've seen & it was creepy. One that frightened me as a kid was Xtro.
