The summer after my freshman year of college I told my gf that I wasn't getting no stinkin' summer job and I was going to play the casino a few times a week instead. I took $20-$40 to riverwind 2 or 3 times a week all summer long and I usually doubled or tripled depending on how much I started with.

It was a VERY stressful summer but rent got paid, had enough for beer money, and I haven't been back to the money trap since. Blackjack gives me headaches now just thinking about trying to beat the house.

Once. I did some study and started learning the math. I looked at Riverwind then set up a blackjack game software at home to match their game configuration. There was no way to make any money with it, it was statistically impossible.

They had a seemingly high number of decks and then there was something else they did (I can't remember what it was) that made it impossible to capitalize on a good hand enough to keep you over 100% payout for any length of time. Even taking that last change out, I seem to remember they had a bet limit that would throttle your hourly take to $8/hr or so.

But hell that was 5,6 years ago things may have changed since then.

Rain man could do it.
