Anybody still cast their own from scrap lead?

Well that’s me in a nutshell. Old, Fat, and not particularly mechanically inclined.

I still cast but very seldom use tin but my brother gave me 9#'s of tin he got from his work making glass when they had a accident and it got mixed with the glass and spilt on the floor.

I still cast got a couple hundred pounds of pure lead could always use some tin to harden but it’s all up to price I’ve got Some Antimony to help

I keep my pure lead separate to use in my BP guns, got several hundred pounds of it also.

Sinkers are the only thing I cast. Pure lead is all I need.

I use tin and lead and silver and have made hard wheel weight round balls for muzzloader just wanted to find out what they shot like and if they deformed.

I used to buy that lead solder in a 1 LB spool for a buck each at auctions as no one really wanted it.

Now Kester rosin or acid core solder I would pay more for it.
Usually 6 bucks a pound was my max.
I soldered a lot of copper wire and radiators.

Not many copper brass radiators around today for replacement ones.
Seems everything went to aluminum.

I would see if you could get more money going to the art glass folks or plumbers. But there are several of us who cast and would like that stash. Trouble is you are looking closer to $1-2 bucks per pound.

I have several rolls of tin/lead solder I’m trying to decide if I want to list in the classifieds.

Didn’t want to create another post to clutter up the classifieds if it’s a lost art and nobody was interested anymore.

You're a rich man! They get over 20 bucks a roll, if you can even find real 50/50 solder.
