I was going to comment about your pic being at Bull Shoals dam. Fished that area several times. It can be quite dangerous if one doesn't heed the sirens that determine water flow.
Case in point, a fly-fishing friend of mine wanted to throw a split bamboo fly rod that I had inherited from my grandfather that was a fly fisherman but never taught me.
He and a friend were wading below the dam, ignoring the first siren as the bite was so good and finally working their way out as the water started rising after the second siren.
The friend got out after a struggle, and when looking back, saw my friend nowhere in sight.
They recovered his body a mile downstream a few days later.
I guess it's appropriate that grandpa's bamboo rod is resting in a trout stream now.
Gastons Resort below the dam is a trout Fishermans dream resort.
Even has its own grass airport for fly-ins.

I've never fished over in Arkansas or the White River, Keep meaning to get over there but usually end up going west instead. Its close enough for a weekend run over there, if someone on here that is familiar with the White river wouldn't mind private messaging me so I don't have to clog up this thread with my questions I'd appreciate it.

I have been tying flies since the late 70's and started fly fishing a couple of years before that.

I usually start the year off fly fishing for sand bass in early spring when they start making their way up the creeks.

Next on the list is smallmouth bass.

Then largemouth bass.

Once the weather starts to warm up, it's time for some serious carp on the fly!

Once the temperature reaches 90 degrees, it's time for channel cat on the fly and I'll do this all summer long.

I catch drum on the fly mid summer, and these fish are a lot of fun to catch and a big one will definitely put a stretch in your line and always take you deep into your backing, just like what carp do!!!

We fish up near Creede, CO every summer. Our cabin is a couple hundred yards off the Rio Grande. However, we like to hike up the creeks that feed the river and catch fish all day long. Those high elevation fish will hit just about any dry fly.
I tie a box with some hoppers, Rio Grande King, Royal Coachman, and caddis like a Goddards.
Man, summer seems so far away...

I spent the last 5 years in New Mexico and fly fished whenever I could. I took up fly tying about 3 years ago and probably enjoy that even more than fishing. I have tied thousands of flies, way more than I’ll ever use. Not sure what I will do with them! I fly fished whenever for bluegills and bass now. Maybe will try crappie and sand bass this year.
