Folks,

I am hoping someone may be able to help me. I am writing a novel and in an effort to make sure it is factually correct, I am looking for someone who can explain in graphic detail how one might break down an AR15 from ready to shoot, back to as concealable as possible... By this I mean, if I took a shot, then had to book it out of there, but didn't want to be running down the street with an AR strung to my shoulder, what is easily removable so it would fit into a backpack...?

I know this sounds a little weird, but I promise I don't plan on shooting anyone :laugh6:

You can even have a free copy of my novel when I'm done :thumb:

Thanks guys,
Jonny

While I'm not an AR guru, I don't think that can be done unless you have a special take-down capable AR made. You would have to have the tools to remove the barrel on your standard run of the mill AR's.

Easy: push out both of the pins holding the upper and lower together, separate the upper and lower, and throw said separate upper and lower in the backpack.

This will not work if your operator has a big barrel unless he gets a bigger backpack or dufflebag. Otherwise, separating the upper and lower will greatly reduce the size you have to conceal. I will see if I can find some pictures of such but some Google Image searching will probably be a gold mine.

Wonderful gents - thank you very much :clap3: There's nothing worse than reading a book and thinking "wait a minute, that doesn't make sense..." So hopefully I won't be that guy. :fullauto:

If anyone else has further input please post away - it is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Jonny

If you were using a 12.5" barrel vs 16" or longer, and a collapsible stock, then the upper and lower would fit in pretty much any backpack.

ETA:

Now if you used this backpack... you could fit whatever you wanted in it!

No breakdown necessary. Use a 10.5" SBR with Black Hills Mk262 77gr Open Tip Match (OTM) 5.56mm ammo, for maximum fragmentation range. Then stuff it into the Noveske backpack specifically designed to hold a rifle with a 27" or shorter OAL. Use an AAC M4-2000 suppressor on it for noise reduction. 2.5 turns and it's off the barrel to stow separate inside the backpack.

Now this is exactly what I was looking for! This is AWESOME! Thank you

We want to hear more about this book.

Well, I have been working on it on and off for quite some time. Recently I got the itch to start writing again so I broke out the old laptop and started typing. It is still a long way off from being finished, but I will certainly keep you informed.

Pretty much covers it right there. Good luck on your novel!

Thank you sir :)
