Car cannot be started unless the FOB or a cloned Fob is in it. Kia and Hyundia have easy to clone Fobs. As for Fobs in general if you have a higher end infotainment system or higher end package the Fob has a greater distance you can unlock doors, start the vehicle, or roll down windows with the Fob. Keep this in mind when parking your vehicle outside at night, sometimes the car may be unlocked by someone lifting the handle. Like I said earlier as well, do not hit the fob 2X to beep the horn as you walk away, the signal may be intercepted.Also, don't modern vehicles that use a FOB have a demobilizing system in the vehicle that makes it very difficult to steal unless the FOB is in proximity?
It's armed by locking with the FOB.
If I remember correctly, certain models of Kia and Hyundai got sued big time and were forced by the government to do a free install of software to create an immobilizer to prevent thefts.
